Since his youth Dr. Rumlin has been active in the Lord’s Church.  He was licensed and ordained into the preaching ministry by his childhood pastor, Rev. Moses Javis.  His greatest exposure to the pastorate and preaching ministries came when he received hands-on ministry experience by serving on the ministerial staff of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church- Atlanta, Georgia. There his father in the ministry, Pastor O.L. Blackshear taught him to preach, teach, and always love God’s people.

In March of 2005, Dr. Rumlin was called to be the Pastor of Dayspring.  Since his arrival and under the direction of the Holy Spirit, the church continues to grow spiritually, numerically and financially.  Dr. Rumlin’s ministry has led to several milestone events at Dayspring, including relocating the congregation from its Jefferson Street location to its current Dunn Avenue location, retiring a 1.1 million dollar mortgage 2016, establishing the Dayspring Christian Academy and Preschool (ages 6 weeks-5), birthed “Camp Dayspring” (ages 4-14), and cultivated “Dayspring Outreach Ministries,” a community development cooperation that manages Camp Dayspring and ACE (Afterschool Care and Enrichment) at Dayspring that ministers to the greater Jacksonville area.

In January 2020, construction concluded on a new Academy building that is licensed for 233 students. Currently, Dr. Rumlin is giving visionary leadership as the Dayspring Church prepares for its next phase of ministry development and community service with the construction of the Dayspring Recreational Complex. This phase will include a football and baseball field. This ministry move will position Dayspring to create its own youth sports association while at the same time, hosting other sport organizations who might not have conducive facilities. With the Holy Spirit’s guidance and commitment from Dayspring disciples becoming “Vision Catchers,” Dr. Rumlin’s desire is to pastor a people with love, understanding and compassion. With a strong commitment to serving God’s church, Dr. Rumlin is equally committed to serving and giving leadership to a Christian family. He is blessed to be married to Kimberly Rumlin and together they are parenting four children.
